Week One

The first thing that comes to my mind when i think of the practice of nursing is just how much nurses can improve the quality of life of their patients. This is what first caught my attention when i started looking into the field of nursing. Go to any hospital or long term care facility and you'll see doctors scrambling from room to room, most of the time with a hurried expression on their face. The nurses however, are there to care for the patients, protect them, and to insure that they recover, or at least have a better quality of life.

I think that i would like to go into emergency nursing, working in an emergency room. The fast paced nature of the work appeals to me. Working in an emergency room would also allow me to experience caring for patients with a host of different ailments. There i could find out if there is a specific type of nursing that interest me, as well as get familiar with caring for patients in all kinds of conditions.
